According to the Vue (NY insert, like TV guide), J! is planning on taping the 5000th show at Radio City Music Hall in the spring.

Any info on Wheel's 5000th? I know it's also coming up soon, but not sure when. Wheel's should be earlier than J!'s too, by about a year actually, which would also make me believe that I should've heard something about it by now...

Not necessarily. Do remember that WOF tapes seven weeks' fewer shows per season than America's favorite answer & question game and over the course of a couple of decades, that gives J! the higher number.
TV Favorites
To gauge the time between each show's 4000th syndicated episode:

J! episode #4000 - Air Date: 5/15/02
WOF episode #4000 - Air Date: 11/10/03

As you can see, the 4000th episodes for each show were nearly a year and a half apart. I suppose the difference would be a little bit greater for the 5000th episodes of each show since as said above, J! tapes more episode per year than Wheel.

Now that I do the math in my head, that would make more sense. I didn't realize it was 7 weeks more that J! taped every season compared to Wheel, I thought it was only like 3 or 4. Since I don't watch J! regularly, I wouldn't have known for sure anyway... Thanks for correcting me on that. Does anybody know if they will be doing the entire show as a greatest moments compendium, like Wheel has done, or if they'll just have contestants as usual?

J! already did such a "greatest moments compendium"- type show on its 4,000th episode back in 2002. So my bet is on the latter.

But why would they go all the way to Radio City Music Hall to tape it, if that's the case?

They aren't going to rent out Radio City for one show, they will probably tape at least ten shows, probably more.

... which leads me to think that it won't be a "regular" show, but part of some type of themed week.

Wonder if they'll trot out Don Pardo as a nod to the original run.

Well, you know who's going to get mentioned--dance, Bonzo.

Seems like the easiest theme week would be celebrities playing for charity--easy enough to just shoot four "regular" shows for one week.

(Wouldn't it be nice if they tried to have a little tournament of the *good* celeb J! players? Jon Stewart really needed a better challenge than he got.)
