Well, the above link would probably be from the 404 Error version of the show.

http://www.farmingdaleweather.net/gscollec...mes_library.htm
is the site. (.com, .net, .org, .xxx - It's all easy to get backwards)

That said, it's the theme from the original 70s version of the show, to the best of my knowledge.

You might want to check www.tv-ark.com , look under "gameshows", then click "S-Z" to find a clip of the British "Sale of the Century" opening from the early 1980's, complete with announcer John Benson's "And now, from Norwich...." intro, and his rundown of the "star prizes...on offer," before introducing host Nicholas Parsons.

Not sure if I can award that "Line Of The Day" consideration, but it is pretty darn close. :)

Has anyone thought that both the US (69-73) and the UK (71-83) used the same theme? If this is true, can you think of any international shows using the same theme as an American theme (with the exception of WWTBAM).

Off the top of my head, the later years of Der Preis Ist Heiss used the same theme (and opening music, for that matter) as The Price Is Right.

Nope. I have an audio clip of the original SotC, and while it's a bit garbled, you can tell the tune is very different.

The "original theme" sounds oddly like something Ray Ellis would have written in the 1980's. I can vouch it's not the original one from the 60's.
rebelwrest
Well if Chris is correct then the theme at Eric's site is incorrectly labeled. The only possible reason is that the theme at his site is an earlier theme for the UK SOTC. TV-Ark has the theme for 1981.

However, if I'm not mistaken, isn't the 80s US $otC based on the Australian theme?

The two themes are very similar, but I do not know when Australia started using that partcular theme. But no question one is definitely based on the other.

Ill probably get shot down by my English typing skills by the so called teachers here who think its thier right to coment on people.

Anyway another obvious one to me is Bruce's Price Is Right which used TPiR1994 theme and come on down cue, which has since been used in Spain and Portugal, Portugal has a funky remix of the US theme for an ending that can be found on golden-road.net

Cash en Carlo in Holland uses another remix of TPiR theme for its come on down cue.

I'm not going to comment on your English skills, but will comment on another little thing you learn about in elementary school: "Drawing attention to yourself". If you dislike people making fun of your English skills (or lack thereof), I wouldn't be making mention of it in future posts.

It's like the little kid on the playground fingering the bully. He'll get knocked down.

Just for the record, those skills should be referred to as "grammar usage skills," not "English skills." :)

I can confirm the Aussie show used the familiar melody from Day One in 1980.
