While watching Comcast SportsNet, I happen to note the Victor Awards are still on the air (39th annual edition of them no less). And, the voice of the Victors as it has been since at least FSN aired the awards is game show announcer John Harlan. Anyone know how long Harlan has been the Voice of the Victors?

The Victors? Geez, what are they? (Don't answer that! Just a joke.)

Anyway, Mr. Harlan has been the announcer for that show as far back as I can remember - at least two decades. He also voices (voiced?) the Mrs. America Pageant for the former PAXtv. Same production company for both.

You know, for an awards show in existence as long as the biggest football game around, it sure flies way under the radar. You'd think David Marmel and his elves would take a cue from ESPN and liven things up a bit. Those ESPYs make ol' Victor downright boring in comparison, and you knew they were coming for weeks. Has anyone heard when the Victors are/were being presented? I haven't.

It's a summer thing and ever since FSN got the "rights" to air them, they've cut back on the telecast from a 2-3 hour broadcast to what I saw last night: 1 hour at midnight before the 1:00 am SportsNite.
