Full Version: Strange Job Titles

After last night's Jeopardy in which Britney Harris, originally from West Union, West Virginia (10 minutes from where I live), says her job title is a Dance Therapist in a Maximum Security Forensic Mental Hospital. Now a group of us is playing where the heck does she work (location-wise), and this may be the weirdest job title ever. The only one that comes to mind is more ironic that weird. It is the guy who came on Match Game who owned a little motel in Encino. Are there other weird job titles that have come up in game shows?

Dance therapist in a Maximum Se...what the HELL?

God, my aching head.

Ironically, the only part of that that I understood was the part where he misused the word "ironic."

That may be scarier than anything.

It was a Goodson Todman panel show that never made it:
"What's My... Address?"

You're not by chance, related to Mario500, are you?

Thanks for the critique of my writing, and I will look up the definition of irony.

Also, I swear on the driving skills of Janice Pennington that that is the actual job title that came out of Alex's mouth.

Anyway, lets get back to the question at hand. Also, I remember on the 4000th episode of Wheel that featured a guy who was a clown/mortician.

Reminds me of watching some of the old Cullen PiR's, and some of the various things I remember seeing that would NEVER happen in this day and age, like:

* Bill Cullen drawing the name of a home viewer, and giving out their ENTIRE ADDRESS (including street location!).
* Bill Cullen giving the winner of a trip the addresses of the other three contestants so postcards could be sent to them.

Clemon thanks for calling me a clown. I would have rather been called the mortician. Anyway, would you like to teach me about how to write on the game show blog.

I really do not think that is possible. Modern science is not that advanced.

I noticed that too...and wondered if those people could still be at that address. It was only 40 years ago...some people do stay at an address for that long.

As recent as 1969, it seemed to me that the original "YDS!" would show both sides of the Bonus Board puzzle submitter's post card with address not blacked out, every day on screen before John Harlan gave them their 10,000 Top Value Stamps (or whatever other prizes they gave out). Maybe they'd started blacking out the address by then, but it didn't seem so.

The address of the home player was not seen on-screen(name and home city was), but was read on-air, during the mid 70s Syndie LMADs where celebs made deals for at-home players. The players were chosen out of the city's telephone directory, and had not sent in postcards.

That was a brilliant idea, by the way. Oh, God, those celeb LMAD shows are classics. I'll grant you Red Buttons was entertaining. I remember Milton Berle, Nanette Fabray and Marty Allen also were on the trading floor for those. Were there others or was the stunt mercifully ended after four shows?

Don't think so...I'm pretty sure they also had at least Bill Macy and Ruth Buzzi.

I do believe that Nipsey Russell was on the trading floor at one time, as well. It was shown on GSN quite a few times.

I remember those two as well. IIRC, was it Bill who won a car for the home viewer, then traded it in for the Big Deal, much to the audience's protest.

He won a bigger car in the Big Deal.

It was either Bill or Milton Berle, I think.

Milton won a big deal of a pool table, cash, and other prizes for his home player, not a car.

The big deal when Bill Macy was on the show was two Datsuns, won by the other contestant. I don't remember what Bill won for the home player.

Considering it's been 11 years since I've seen the episodes, I hope you don't expect me to remember all the details, which is why I said IIRC and *I think*.

Anyways, there *was* a celebrity who won a car in one of the games, then gave it back for the Big Deal (much to the audience's chagrin). He then went on to win a bigger car in the Big Deal. I don't know who it was, I just remember seeing it.
