Here's an article on the new Jeopardy! champion...

WPRI Providence, Rhode Island

It also made Yahoo! AP news as well.

Brian

Will Smith played Hutch?
aaron sica
Unless I missed something here....What's so special about someone who won her first game?

Aaron...

Who started this thread? That should answer all your questions. :-)
Modor
That's fantastic. And Sandy Beach won a copy of "The Beatles:1" CD on Dick Bartley's greatest hits.

It made Brian Henke is a Yahoo news.

Seldom do I see news stories about regular J! winners picked up by the wire services. The last one I remember was when Nancy Zurg beat Ken.

Brian

100 plus 100 equals 600?

Brian,

With all due respect, you'd let us know if you saw what appeared to be an image of Alex Trebek circa 1977 in your morning toast. A large majority of us just don't give a damn that Edna from Topeka was on TPiR and won a vacuum.

Thank God.

In the Rutland VT area (which is near where I'm from, just on the other side of Lake Champlain and a bit north), it's very unusual to find a person that was on a game show, let alone won. Sure, in your big cities it means pretty much jack squat, but up in our area, it's a big deal. I'm surprised you found it on a RI station and not Albany NY or Burlington VT.

BTW, the oldest contestant on TPiR is from the same area, and on the noontime news right after the show aired, there was a news piece about the person who was on the show.

Speak for yourself. I have no respect for Henke whatsoever. :)

Nor for very many other posters around here, it would appear. It's
not like Brian wrote the AP story.

I think it is odd that the mainstream, national press is writing about
a one day champ and it is certainly worth a mention. Perhaps she'll
be around for a while.

It may not even be mainstream national press. AP does do regional and state wires and this story may have only moved on the Vermont or New England wire.

Back in college at the radio station, we used to make fun of a guy at a station in Peoria because he called into the AP state wire every damn fatal accident in the Peoria area--and the AP ran them. Guess they were desperate for non-Chicago and non-Springfield news.

It managed to make it to the front page of the Austin (TX) American-Statesman web site, in the box generally used for celebrity and weird news headlines like "Paintings by chimpanzee outsell Warhol" and "Tom Cruise squirted with water in UK TV prank."

The Cincinnati Post ran it on its web site as well.

Brian

The Jehovah's Witnesses distribute Mad magazine?
Modor
Hey, maybe if we complain a little more, we can get a Cincinatti board too.

My exasperation with said poster is up to my neck. Go back to rec.sport.nascar.
