In making the advertisers happy, reality's sticking to summer at the broadcast nets, thank you very much.
Fox and UPN announced their schedules today and Mike Darnell's been put on a muzzle--the only scheduled unscripted on either the fall (or Nov.-Dec.) or winter schedules is the fifth goround for Ry Ry, Dawg, Simon and maybe Paula on "Idol" in January. The "Wife Swap" and "Supernanny" clones "Trading Spouses" and "Nanny 911" will be at unannounced times starting in January, but they aren't comps anyway. (I know that "Spouses" has that game element, but it's still not a comp.)
At UPN, for fall it'll just be Ty Ty, Janice and company once again looking for "America's Next Top Model." Only change is that the repeats will be on Tuesday.
Thus endeth the chronicles of game/competition shows at the fall prime time upfronts--for now.
