As I type this, I just finished taping the replay of last Friday's World Series of Blackjack. I usually catch the first run, but I had to tape CBS's NUMB3RS for Mom instead. (ObGS: Did Rob Morrow ever do a game show? Don't think so, so back to GSN.) It's the second semifinal--the season really zoomed right by--and I stuck around to see Dealer Deanna peek at her hole card after turning over a 10. She thought she had a blackjack--but the hole was a 4. Max pointed out the A and the 4 on the cards the G-Nug use do look similar.

On that same hand, I don't know what Leann was thinking hitting her 13 against Deanna's 14, considering everybody else played it like a 4. But she ended up taking the card that would have busted Deanna; instead the dealer hit to 21 and everybody lost. Intentional or not, that's a shrwed piece of strategy (intentionally taking the dealer's bust card to wreck everybody else's hands--I call it the suicide bust). BTW, don't try that at your local casino; it's better for tournament play.

Useless piece of WSoBj trivia: One of this year's players, Anthony Curtis, has been recapping this tournament, and in his blog he points out that Max and Megan are father and daughter.

Finally, I mentioned that I had to miss last Thursday's Password Plus because the power company needed the whole morning to fix a frayed power line connected to my house (not fraid as I said at the time--that spelling would draw a pout from Stacey). Well, I recently added a Blockbusters 1987 episode guide* to go with my guide from the Cullen era. Right now, I have a hole where last Thursday's ep (#9) aired. OK, so the way Friday's show started should give me an idea, but still...you know the drill, but I will not take replies from anyone whose initials are ZH.

* Edit: Yes, I know the HTML is a little off. FortuneCity isn't at its best performance right now.

ObGS indeed: Rob Morrow played Congressional investigator Dick Goodwin in "Quiz Show".

I can give you more details once I get home tonight, but Debbie lost at the Gold Run at the top of the show, Bob swept the following match and won $5000.

I don't know what's supposedly wrong with the HTML but it looks fine in FireFox.

I'm in IE, and note no problems either.

I got it fixed right not long after I sent the original message. Sure enough, the server difficulties subsided before long.
