Full Version: Debralee Scott, 1953-2005

That Don Guy
The latest Entertainment Weekly says that Debralee Scott (listed as an actress on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, but much better known around here for Match Game 7x appearences, not to mention an unsold pilot or two) died on April 5 of natural causes, three days after her 52nd birthday.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't she the celebrity in the first $10,000 daytime Match Game win after they introduced the Star Wheel? (A tough clue, at that - New York ________; I was surprised both came up with "Times" (as opposed to, say, "Yankees" or some other sports team) as their response.)

The first person who posts a "What game shows will Debralee Scott's corpse host" will be court-martialed, shot, and sent to the Russian front (why yes, I have been watching the Hogan's Heroes Season 1 DVDs - I never knew CBS had a standard "Broadcast in Color" opening like NBC at one time)...

It was posted last week...after a lengthy debate about whether or not the stories surrounding her death were true or false. Perfesser had it at HIS site, and it was questioned on the forum, mainly because the story hadn't hit the wires (AP, Reuters) or any cable news site.

Edited for anatomical correctness. Thanks, Mike. :-)

You mean the one in which the letter "C" jumps up into the frame, then the "B" and then the "S" jump down into place, each letter accompanied by some electronic "ding," and as an announcer says "CBS presents this program in color," and there's some kind of electronic fanfare, the CBS "eye" rakes horizontally across the letters, turning them into different colors?

It's been a long, long time since I saw that.

The confusion is understandable. How many guys named Beverly do you know?

Gotta love TV Ark----Here it is!!!

I realize I'm a little late here, but I took it as a shocker when I heard it. She was a lot younger than I expected.

That used to be on not that long ago, as part of the old "retro hour" on Friday nights (new Candid Camera, Cosby Kids Say...). Oh and the electronic fanfare was more handiwork from Eric Siday, who scared generations of kids with the 1965 closing logo for Screen Gems (aka the "S from Hell") :-)

It was used by CBS from September 1965 until early September 1968. Unlike the other two networks, CBS reckoned by Fall '68 that to announce that a network show was IN COLOR was sort of redundant when everything they aired by then was colorcast outside of a few old movies and pre-1966 daytime reruns.

I still can easily recall one Thursday night in 1965 when their color open played before an episode of "Gilligan's Island" and my dad, who was out in the kitchen doing some office work he brought home, heard it and roared, "That junk's on in COLOR???!!"

CBS also used it on occasion throughout the broadcast schedule during 1998, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the TV network, along with a couple of other old network IDs. While I was closed-captioning "Young and the Restless" and "Bold and the Beautiful," I definitely remember it showing up at the start of those shows sometimes, in lieu of the regular 5-second network promo. I'm surprised Zach hasn't yet posted his statistic of how often they used it before "TPIR."

Hear Eric Siday's CBS color audio logo among his best works in this demo posted by "Uncle Ricky":

Randy West's sig reads, in part:

"Hear me on VH-1's "Game Show Moments" specials this spring. See me at TPiR-Live in Atlantic City this summer. Smell me at your own risk."

You left out a couple of important senses, bud! ;^)

Just pulled up the Siday/Reelradio site. Worked fine for me! I'm using RealOne Player v 9.0 on an iMac.

The only time I get any Reelradio/RealOne Player error messages is if I try to jump from one sound file to another without stopping the file that's playing in midstream.
