As I was copying themes from the first GSN CD, I noticed that the theme to "I've Got a Secret, entitled Plink, Plank, Plunk, is missing from the lineup. I first got the CD back when it first came out and had to get it again when it accidently fell in the trash and threw it out not knowing what all was in the container. On the first CD it's track no. 4 right after "rollercoaster, theme to WML?. On this latest version it goes from WML? to Password (in which the Password theme used to be no.5 on the first CD). Is there any reason for this???

Most likely the licensing agreement for that track expired, and could not be renegotiated in time for the re-pressing.

Curious, considering that the master to the track is owned by Universal Music Group, Varese Sarabande's distributor. If Universal couldn't extend a deal with a label they distribute...

Speaking of Game Show CDs...it appears a new one came out.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id...32&type=productToo bad it has nothing new on it.

Well, I think it's fair to say that those VERSIONS are new. Bad, but new.
What are they, MIDI's?

Wow. Just when I thought something couldn't lick more balls than that site Fenner posted.
Yeah, I think those are MIDI. Or at least some jagoff with a moderately-priced keyboard. That version of the Pyramid is comporable to the ringtone on my phone.
Which would be okay if it were a ringtone. It's not.

Perhaps I was lucky not to hit the listen button.
Seems to me we could actually make money by creating CDs with a bunch of good stuff, provided someone got the license to copy and sell.

Because, as that page mentions, that CD is not available for purchase in Best Buy stores.
At least now I know how the Match Game 7x theme would sound if it was performed by an organist with a blood-alcohol level around 0.40.

FF sounds like they took it right off the SNES game.

I hope this doesn't give FremantleMedia any ideas for a theme for the next revival of 'Match Game'.

I'm not at all surprised they have backlogged orders. I mean, the themes to all my favorite gameshows, just as they appear on TV, on one compact disc for only six dollars. I had no idea the 25K Pyramid theme sounded like that. There must be something wrong with my TV's speakers. This whole time I've been humming the wrong song! If anyone's thinking of getting me an early birthday present...

<Does a Danny Thomas Spit Take>
What the HELL was I listening to!?!?!?
Even if they were giving them CD's out for FREE with any $20 purchase, I'd be back asking for a refund!!!
I could come out with better sounding versions on my old Commodore 64!

My parents picked up a copy at the local Eckerd as a surprise...I thanked them for their generosity, but explained that I already had the REAL versions of these themes, which was apparently for the better. :-)

If nothing else, I'd say it's a keeper in the sense that Milli Vanilli's CD is a keeper. :)

That stuff sounds like something that a 10 year old who had only foggy memories of GSN reruns, with a synth board, would shit out in five seconds...I mean, I've heard belched versions of the Family Feud theme that sounded closer to the real thing...

I have the version of that CD that GSN and that music co. released with the "Plink Plank Plunk" theme from IGAS.
Have had it for quite a long time.. since 2000 I think.

Since I'm part of the evil music empire, I went into our archive and listened to the whole darn thing. It's MIDI-riffic! Actually, the LMAD theme isn't that bad, since you're only trying to duplicate four instruments. The rest are pretty terrible. Almost makes me wonder if they have some sort of software that can make a MIDI out of a WAV file, or at least get the notes down and have someone assign the instruments.
However, this outfit has made over 50 such albums, including such gems as:
DJ's Choice: I Want to Be a Sports Star and
DJ's Choice: Gagnsters Greatest Hits. These are pretty much MIDIs with some lounge singer providing the lyrics.
If you really want to punish yourself:

I assure you, it wasn't a comment against yourself...I was simply saying that the statement that none of the recreations were as good as the real tunes was an understatement, to say the least.
