I'm searching high and low, but I could swear I read an odd article or obit or something along that line that stated Jack Barry's original name was along the lines of Baransky/Barransky/Barranski back in his tie salesman/early comic days. If someone has either confirmation or a correction on this, it would be appreciated.
Sounds like both changed their names to make them show-biz smoother. This has been Twenty-One - A Jack Barransky - Dan Ehrenreich Production!
fostergray82
In all seriousness, there's Winston "Wink" Martindale.

Here it is. From Jeff Kisselloff's wonderful book The Box, a quote from Herb Stempel: "[Dan] Enright's real name was Errenreich as Barry's was Barish."

TIC TAC DOUGH is a Jack Barish and Dan Errenreich Production!

Yeah, like that really rolls off the tongue. Say that five times fast. I can understand why it ended up as Barry and Enright instead.

So it's not true that Hugh Downs' real first name is Upson?

Not many people know that Randy West's real name is R. Algernon Biggleswade.

Bud Collyer - Clayton Collyer

Actually, his real name is Clayton J. Heermance, Jr. This is mentioned in a booklet that came with one of the Adventures of Superman collections from our good buddies at Radio Spirits.

Also, Dick Clark's full name is Richard Augustus Wagstaff Clark II

Here's a few more:

Bert Jacobsen (Bert Parks)
Georgio Florantine (George DeWitt)
Arthur Fazzin (Art Fleming)
Bernard Whalen (Bert) Convy
Milton Hines (Soupy Sales)
Morton Halperin (Monty Hall)

Cordially,
Tammy Warner--the 'Becky Price of the Big Board!'

Jim McKrell's surname, according to Curt A's Games of '75 Page, is actually spelled "MacKrell"...the "a" was dropped for fear that some might think it was pronounced "mackerel".

Chuck Donegan (The Illustrious "Chuckie Baby")
Matt Ottinger

Yes, and people kept asking me if I was related to the Broadway actress. So I picked a name where nobody would ever ask me that again.

Not my job to answer questions. My job's to ask 'em.

And we all know how well that attitude worked for me against Ken Jennings.
