It appears that GAS has revamped their schedule for July....it includes such "goodies" as a 3 hour block of Legends of the Hidden Temple from 5-8; and the reduction of "Double Dare" to once a day.

I'm still ticked that they dumped "Make the Grade" and "Think Fast" and show nothing but the fake "Wild & Crazy Kids."

Don't forget about What Would You Do?, which has now been off the schedule for a couple of years.
Seriously, I know this is a game show forum, but can we all agree that a network for old school Nickelodeon shows would just be incredible?

Oh yeah! "What Would You Do!" I got GaS just recently, so that's my excuse for forgetting about that.
I would LOVE a channel devoted to Classic Nick! BRING IT ON!

Only if it includes Dusty's Treehouse, Livewire and Popclips.
Hey, if we're going to go "old school," we might as well go really "old school." ;-)

HELL YEAH!! Don't forget "Out of Control" & "Don't Just Sit There!"
Random note: "Out of Control" was the first show produced specifically for Nickelodeon (1984). All previous shows came from outside sources.

I heard that "Out of Control" was the FIRST. My source:
http://www.johnnorrisbrown.com/classic-nic...ntrol/index.htmHere's "Livewire's" page:
http://www.johnnorrisbrown.com/classic-nic...ewire/index.htmAnother random note:
Kevin Kubucheskie of "You Can't do that on Television" was on Livewire; he talked about it in an interview with
ycdtotv.com. He mentioned that Megadeth was on the same show as him.

I believe she was on a half dozen or so shows, all in 1986. Unfortunately, "YCDToTV" will probably never air in the states again (except for the occasional U-Pick situation) because the production company would have to pay ALL of the 100+ kids. Something they're not prepared to do. If you think that's baloney, check
here. There's an article about somewhere.

Your source is wrong... a check of Lexis-Nexis shows a reference to "Livewire" in a New York Times article from 7/12/81.

And if you want to go back even further, don't forget "Pinwheel", which Nick produced themselves (not counting the animated shorts within), not only when Nick went national in 1979, but back in the days when it was a local channel in Columbus OH, in 1977.

Back when it was called, appropriately, The Pinwheel Channel.

And according to the great page I was directed to from the above links, the name Nickelodeon came because the original station ID consisted of a man turning the crank on an old nickelodeon machine.

Actually, this is the line:

ObGameshows: The "Music" episode from 86, featuring Alanis, was aired not too long ago on Nick. According to the voiceover at the end, it was "A Name That Tune production."

Speed Racer is on GAS? I thought it was on SPEED. Perhaps the GAS episodes are from the 1990's version? SPEED runs the original "Mach Go Go Go" series from the 60's that many of us geezers in the group grew up on.

Back in November, one of the NASCAR cars ran a Speed Racer paint scheme....but I thought the series busted in March and went to GAS. IIRC, both show the original.

Well, I know that Nick proper has played the 90s Speed Racer most recently, so that's most likely what GAS is playing.

I think you're right about GAS showing the late-1990s version, which is actually called "Speed Racer X", not to be confused with a short-lived American-made revival that was seen in 1993, which is not seen on GAS (though Group W, since absorbed by Viacom, distributed that version).

God, there was another Speed Racer? And I saw this other short lived one, and boy did it ever suck. I was wondering what these writers were on when they wrote this dribble.
