Let's say that there was a really tough Final Jepoardy! and the winner only has $5. Now the second and third place players get $2,000 & $1,000 respectively, but what about the winner? If he loses the next day is he stuck with a whopping $5? Or is there a house minimum for winnings like on "Wheel of Fortune" ($500 per round)?

He'd get the $5 for that day, plus whatever his placement would be for future days.
"And, our returning champion, John Doe, with a one-day total of five dollars..."

Sigh...
Think about this. If you win on day one, with $5, and then finish third on day two, then you leave with (everybody, class), $1,005.

Also, that same $5 the first day + a 2nd place finish the next yeilds....$2,005. Class dismissed.

A few years ago, somebody (and I'm sure someone here is enough of an autistic savant to know who it is) ended up being the champ with $1. And yes, Johnny introduced him as someone "whose one-day cash winnings total $1."

Followed by much laughter from the audience, real or sweetened.

Now then, if a contestant during Kids Week, when there are no returning champions, wins with $1, THEN what happens?

The "R&R J!" house minimum law would probaby go into effect. If it was $5,000 during the old numbering system, I guess it would be $10,000 now--but that's a lot to give to a kid, even if it's in a bond or something they won't get until they become of age.

Does anybody know if that guy won the next day - or did he leave the show with $1?

Darryl Scott did win a second game, winning $13,402 in two days before being defeated.
