Full Version: Randy & the Gang. What's the scoop for AC TPIR?
Game Show Forum > Discussion Boards > The Big Board

Ticketmaster has them on sale. I'd suggest calling for single tickets as some front rows are available.

So when is Randy confirmed announcing and is anybody else going?
dzinkin
Soon as we can agree on a date, I'd love to meet up with some of the folks here... hopefully a Friday or Sunday night so I don't have to take *too* much time off from work. :-)
goongas
I would like to go as well. Friday would probably work best, although I am open to any night.

While everything is subject to change, it looks like Todd Newton and I will open the AC show on July 12th. Right now we're planning on both being in AC until somewhere around July 23rd. Todd and I will then open the San Diego show together on or around the 29th. One or both of us will probably return to AC in late August. NOTE: The AC show is scheduled for Sunday thru Friday nights - dark on Saturdays.

Confirmed details as they become available from the Freemantle newsroom.

Come On Down! ;-)

With that information, I'm going to suggest July 16th (Friday) as my first choice, with July 18th as a second. I predict that I'll probably be the only one -- or at least one of the few -- flying in as opposed to driving or taking a train, so other days would be difficult for me. Thoughts?
goongas
July 16th is fine for me.
cmjb13
Seems like the 16th is the only way to go.

Too bad they are dark on Saturday as I would have like to hit 2 shows in a row. Can't do Sunday have to work the next day as I'm sure most of you have to as well.

Now that a date is chosen, any place/time to meet up? (After the show or before the show)

Do they allow cameras?
dzinkin
Well, I now know that three of us have ordered tickets... should be a fun night! As to where to meet up, I'll defer to the others -- I know NYC fairly well but AC's new territory for me.

Actually I haven't ordered mine, but will do so tomorrow.

Any idea where you are seated?

I think meeting time really depends. I'll be driving straight from work arriving hopefully about 1 hour before showtime. Others might be there the whole day.

Hard ROck Cafe is at the Taj Mahal within blocks of Showboat, you could all meet there. As for the SHowboat, not as familiar with what's there. Planet Hollywood is at Caesar's, though a trip down the boardwalk from the Showboat. I'm in Margate but that's 20 mins. from AC. I'd play nice with a couple of you and host you on my couches, but I work the whole day on Sat. and Sun.

We can agree on a meeting time and location as the date approaches.

I would also suggest a list at some point of people's name's who are going.

I would feel odd saying: Excuse me, are you Mr. Goongas?

Between Messrs. Panchenko (goongas) and Donegan and myself, we have Section 2, Row F, seats 29 to 31. I'll be flying into JFK sometime Friday morning.

I'll certainly try to hit a couple of tapings over the eight weeks, seeing I live near there. But would us knowing Mr. West, albeit mostly through ATGS and here, make us ineligible for being on the show?

Just ordered seat 32 for that row.

Decided to pass on front row.

From having that conversation with Randy in the past, since the selection process is "random," I'm 99% sure that you are eligible any time you pay for a ticket. If you happened to be a guest of the Producer, you would remain ineligible ONLY for that particular show.

Buy a ticket = Eligible. Randy can confirm, I'm sure.

Unfortunately the weekend of the 16th is mine to work, so I won't be able to join ya'll. I will venture down to take a gander at the show, so if another trip is in order, let me know.
Game Show Man
And when you and Todd show up in San Diego on the 29th, I'm sure a large contigent of West Coasters will be their to greet you (me included, naturally).

Again, please let me know if there is a plan for another trip down. I know I am planning for 2 trips. This one just is on my work weekend.

Oh, I'm sure it won't be a secret if there's another one, John. :-) I know I won't be able to make a second trip (I'm becoming an uncle in August and my vacation time is already allocated), but I'm sure others will.

Concurred.

The show is produced and staffed by TV game show veterans who have pretty much continued with the TV rules we're worked under for all these years. I can only assume they must be far more stringent than any Harrahs or New Jersey Gaming Commission policies that might apply.

So unless you won't be attending a show, let's keep on the safe side and NOT meet BEFORE the gig. Yes, we rehearse with the models, the prizes, the copy and the prices before the show. But AFTER the show (and after a few drinks) maybe we can spin the big wheel... backwards, even! ;-)

Just curious, Randy, (and a little off topic) have you ever had a chance to goof around with any of the actual TPiR props? Ya know, spin the wheel, drop a Plinko chip...

...Or is that just unprofessional?

Just got section 2, row F, seats 35 and 36.

See everybody on the 16th.

Got an email from Dave Zinkin last night about the show - I'm going to have to see what my work schedule is and will definitely look to go, if I have off...

Hi Guys...thanks to DZink for the personal invite....right now, i'm gonna try to make it, but since I work weekends, it may be tough...

But it's worth it just to :

A: hang out with fellow game show buffs

B: Hear Randy (and Todds?) personal stories...some may even be about game shows!

C: Watch my wife roll her eyes. A lot.

best, ms

July 12...Crud...Not enough time for a broke 23 year old who lives in northwest Ohio to figure out a way to AC...

Have fun guys.

Whether this can top sharing a hotel room with Randy Amasia and Chumley Atkins, and seeing J! in Atlanta with them and Mark Jeffries, remains to be seen -- though if we can get Randy West drunk and get him to tell stories, the potential is absolutely there. :-D

Matt and Aaron... hope to see you both there, and I hope I didn't go overboard with the personal invites. (There are at least two Matt Scotts who have to be asking this AM "who the hell is this guy?" :-D)
cmjb13
For those who are close enough to drive, are you crashing for the night or driving out late at night?

I never dropped a Plinko chip down the Plinko board, but my fingerprints are on the few items I was always curious about... the "Range Game", the "Master Key" keys, etc.. I was mostly concerned with doing what I needed to give my best performance and getting to know the members of the family, but there was that night with the tugboat life preserver and the Plinko stick at The Farmer's Daughter!

I certainly don't, and I apologize for forgetting that you're in the general vicinity -- had I remembered that I'd certainly have sent you an invite!

I haven't decided. I sort of have a room comped in AC if I need to stay over. I would have to book the room though ahead of time for a Friday night. I could easily get home Friday night/Sat morning if I had to though.

MURPHEY'S LAW RE-ENACTED

I've been careful to use tentative words and phrases such as "for now the plan is..." with the concern that schedules could be juggled. It's the nature of this business, and it happens more times than I can believe to everybody who is at the mercy of the showbiz gods. It's even more distressing than finding there's no soap in the dressing room!

At this very moment I learned that my AC dates have changed. I will NOT be in AC on the dates previously scheduled. I WILL be in San Diego for that entire run. It's the gig I expressed earliest interest in because of its proximity to home and other work committments. But let me add another "for now the plan is...".

In defense of Freemantle, it is a monumental task to schedule so many people with specific skills, often taking care to accommodate their other committments.

I'm truly sorry if it turns out this inconveniences or disappoints anyone. I know it disappoints me.

If there is any further change (bank on it! ;-) I shall post. If you feel your life will end because of this change, e-mail me and I'll talk you off the building's ledge!

Sorry to hear of the change, particularly after eight or ten people here have planned on seeing one of your scheduled AC gigs on 7/16. It happens in your business(heck it even happens in the trashman business), Randy. I'll see your gig when you do get down here.

This thread proves that it is possible to overabbreviate. It took me several posts to realize that AC is Atlantic City. At first I thought you were performing in an air conditioner!
cmjb13
Well, if the date has changed, worst case scenario is that I lose $33.50 by not going. Hell, we'll probably spend double that on drinks.

Thankfully I didn't book a room yet. Really because I haven't decided whether I will drive back or crash for the night.

This is why I didn't book a room *or* a flight yet. (No, driving from Pittsford to AC and back is not an option.) Let's see what happens with new dates.
