Ralph Edwards is 91 today. The creator of "This Is Your Life", "People's Court", and "Truth Or Consequences" gave Bob Barker his first big break, and a city in New Mexico its name.

Here's a link to Ralph's bio at the Radio Hall of Fame:

Not to mention Name That Tune (which gave us Kathie-Lee Johnson-Gifford), the moderately successful Cross-Wits (loved that big crossword board) and BZZZ! (with Me, Annie Wooooood), and the flops Knockout and So You Think You've Got Troubles.

And Edwards is the probably the only television producer who has been actively producing from the start of national television to the present day--an impressive record that may not be equaled by anyone else. May all his consequences continue to be happy ones (I know, he didn't say that, Barker did, but it's still an appropriate wish).

While we have Ralph Edwards' production company to thank for the 1970s edition starring Tom Kennedy and Dennis James, I believe the show was created by Harry Salter. Perhaps our resident George DeWitt fan and contestant on the Jim Lange version of the game can back this up and provide further information.

You are correct. Salter sold the rights to the show to Edwards in the 70s.

Just how much is Ralph still involved in the production of his shows(People's Court only at this point). There was a three year gap from the end of the Wapner PC to Bzzz!'s premiere between 1993-96, and in those years there was no first-run Edwards-Billett show on the air.
