Gene Klavan, Longtime DJ at WNEW 1130 AM and also WOR in New York Passed away at the age of 79. He was one of the panelists of "Make the Connection" with hosts Jim McKay and Gene Rayburn.Which has been shown on GSN. I got this info in an Old Time Radio list E-Mail which had a link to the New York Times Obituary which you have to register for the online Times to read. I thought he was quite funny the few times I saw him, He could have been a Long-time GT panelist if they wanted him In my opinion

Heard that on NPR today with a clip of his old radio show. I understand Gene also did some panel work on an old show hosted by Mike Wallace, "Who Pays?". Wish I could have seen the show. The idea has always been interesting - bringing on two employees and figuring out who their celebrity employer is. With today's gossip-hungry audience, imagine the dirt some of these employees (or with a twist, ex-employees) could dish...

And Gene Klavan replaced Gene Rayburn as Dee Finch's partner on the WNEW morning show in the early 50s when Mr. Rayburn moved to NBC.

And IIRC, he was the "second-string" host in the early days of the American Movie Classics cable network, with Nick Clooney doing most of the prime time hosting.
