http://www.katymae.com/index.htmlThere is some bad news regarding the project that was posted yesterday by Todd:
"
Well, about two month's worth of work has probably gone down the toilet. Today, while adding the two last elements of the Family Feud Challenge Pre-release software, Flash suddenly started giving me error messages every time I tried to save.
When you save a file in Flash, it deletes the old file and recreates it with the same name. In this case, it deleted the file, had trouble recreating the file, and generated the error message, "Failed to save document." Let me just say I've had a tough day.
I did create a playable Flash movie that is complete with two exceptions. The face-off podium lights are from the original software and so is the timer for the Fast Money round. This will be posted on my web site tomorrow. Beta testing will be skipped as I cannot work with the file any longer.
This also means the Family Feud Challenge will probably be pushed back a great deal. Because of frustration, I may not do it at all. Meanwhile, I hope all will enjoy the work I've accomplished so far as I work with what parts of the file I was able to salvage.
I deeply regret this happening. You don't know what it's like to lose months of work like this."

That is truly teh suck. When I was in college, I issued the command to save the script I was working on for a screenwriting course, and without thinking, reached behind my Apple IIc to flip the power switch...
...right in the middle of the save. Fifteen pages, gonezo, due Monday. So I have at least a little idea whereof he speaks.

Even though this has been a tough situation, I'm feeling much more positive about it now. I still have all the graphics. That's what takes the most time to do anyway.
I was able to copy the contents from the bad file to a new one. The problem is, the elements are there but they're not talking to each other. It could be simple or something major, I don't know. Whatever the case, I have high hopes I can get some kind of workable file going again.
I am NOT giving up.

Please make sure you check your Feud address. I sent you a little snippet of info on recovering your missing data.

As per previous experience with this, make sure to right click in the screen and see if Play is checked. Click on Play and then it should start up.

I did, and it won't work. Also, when I try without the intro it works, but the only sounds that work are the faceoff cue and answer reveals.

Did you press page down? It's supposed to go to a blank screen until you page down, which is super-useful, actually.

I never did that, but now I have another problem. I can't get the damn thing to work! Now when I go to the site, and click on the pre-release thing, the internet freezes up. What's the deal?
