I saw the first WML? at the Museum of TV and Radio, and it didn't have commercial breaks. In those early days, network TV was sold like network radio had been. A show was either fully sponsored by one or two advertisers, or it had no commercials at all. Individual "spot" advertising was limited to local station breaks (and to non-network shows). WML? didn't get a sponsor (Stopette deodorant) until either on or after the third episode.
