Television actress Madlyn Rhue, 68,

LOS ANGELES - Madlyn Rhue, whose acting career spanned three decades and scores of TV appearances on shows ranging from "Perry Mason" to "Murder, She Wrote," died Tuesday. She was 68.

Rhue, who had multiple sclerosis, died from pneumonia and heart failure.

Rhue began appearing on TV in the late 1950s on shows such as "Have Gun-Will Travel" "Cheyenne" and "Gunsmoke."

She had many recurring TV roles, including as the Cabot Cove librarian in "Murder, She Wrote. *"

And she also appeared on several game shows, including Match Game 7X. Boy, The Grim Reaper sure hasn't been too kind to Hollywood this year...

What part of "this has nothing to do with game shows, even if they WERE a Mystery Guest on WML in 1972" is it that doesn't seem to be able to penetrate you guys' synapses?

We've also lost Jeanne Crain last week, and now Hope Lange has gone to her final reward as well.

Cordially,
Tammy Warner--the 'Rita Hayes of the Big Board!'

I guess as long as it has some GS connection, no matter how remote, it's news...at least it was less of a stretch than my Gene Anthony Ray post a few weeks ago, which in retrospect, I now admit was going a bit too far.

I'd say it has more of a connection than Warren Zevon, at the very least....

Frankly, I don't see why any of this is "going a bit too far." These people appeared as celebrities on game shows; it IS related and relevant. Hell, if it weren't for this forum, I might never have known that some of these stars have died. I still haven't seen an obituary in my local paper for Terry Lester. I felt like an idiot for not knowing for years that Nathan Cook had died in 1988. If there had been a forum like this then, I probably would have known a lot sooner.

I really don't see what the problem is about informing the group of the deaths of game-show celebrities, no matter how few appearances they made. It sure as hell is less annoying than taking a post thread way off-topic, which seems to be happening more and more these days.

Hey, if it's good with Our Founders (and at last glance, it wasn't, maybe they've grown tired of constantly being ignored on this particular issue), it's good with me.

Anyone who has been a panelist or celebrity player, no matter how infrequently, is acceptable here. This would include husbands/wives/boyfriends/girlfriends/beards of all manner of Tattletales and He Said, She Said players such as the very charming wife of Scoey Mitchlll, Claire. And who was that guy who used to show up with Phyllis Diller on TT, Ward something or other ... ?

Anyone who was a guest is acceptable. This includes WML? mystery guests, TTTT impostors, IGAS subjects, etc.

IIRC correctly, Warren Zevon fit none of those categories.

Ward Donovan?

Fair enough. I withdraw and apologize for my previous complaints.

And I apologize for going way off-topic to begin with (the whole Zevon thread was my fault). Hope everyone's enjoying their holiday! :)

And yes, Chris C., it was Ward Donovan.

So was my Barry White obit still able to fit inside this boundary, since he did a commercial for the Dating/Newlywed game in '96? :-)

Yes he does fit inside those boundaires, and here's a second reinforcement: Barry White and the Winker were buddies, Wink mentioned this on an episode of Debt(when a round one category was about friends of Wink's). WInk also appeared in Barry White's VH1 Behind the Music episode in 1999.

How is appearing in an ad the same as being a panelist, celebrity player, or guest, Zach?

Bzzzt. BW was not a panelist, celebrity player or guest.

Rule of thumb: a celebrity must have been booked by a game show's producers to appear on their show.

And, like the panelist in a 1983 SNL sketch, I didn't know until I read your post!
