Time to break out the soda pop as we celebrate another game show heartthrob's birthday. Today it's Jim Perry, best known as host of the ORIGINAL Card Sharks and the 1980s remake of Sale of the Century, who turns 65(!) years young. I bet he doesn't look it (I hope)!
Best wishes Jim; the game show industry could use someone like you now! (SWAK!)
Cordially,
Tammy Warner--the 'Abby Dalton of the Big Board!'

Kind of appropriate Jim's birthday falls on Veteran's Day. I believe he has said on CS that he was once in the service.
I envy him. When last heard from, he was happily retired in the Pacific Northwest, where (according to my uncle, who just moved in from Oregon) it doesn't snow often.
A few Perry quotes from CS:
"Do you get the feeling our staff doesn't trust anyone? They told the priests to tell us to the truth!" -- from the first week
"When I get home, my wife always lays out my bathrobe and slippers because I hate to do the dishes in cold water." -- April 1979, when he blew a punch line
"When I get home, my wife always lays out my slippers because she knows I hate to do the dishes in my shoes." -- end of that same show; Jim tells the writers' version of that joke
"He said hello, went to the board and went ppbbblllt across the board, won the first game, and we don't know who he is!" -- 1980
"And you could look at Jim Perry's socks!" -- Gene Wood during a contestant plug, 1981
"That dummy made the dean's list?!" -- that "dummy" was his daughter Erin, 1981
"Gene, the show's going off today. I've got a great job for us." -- from the series finale, during a question about surrogate parents

IIRC from that article on Card Sharks someone made at a website (Matt or someone else can point out), they (meaning Jim and June Perry) live in Florida now.
