For those on the left coast, this show's a keeper.

Without giving away game spoilers, here are some of my musings:

• That was the perfect costume for Drew!!

• Loved the "special TPIR theme" used in the show -- definitely want to find a clean copy of it!

• Definitely looked like a LMAD crowd in the audience, minus the signs.

• Liked the costumes the crew wore, though it kind of spoiled the mystery as to what games would be played.

• Was it just me or did Rich Fields' costume remind me of GSN's Green Ball???

• I like how there was a specific "theme" in the products offered in the day's grocery game, though it was not mentioned aloud.

• The scariest part of the show -- having Bob Barkers (and bad looking ones at that) on the "corners"!

• WTF with the Showcase!?!?? -- and I'm not talking the prizes...

• Kudos to the special effects crew. Loved what they did w/ Contestants Row people.

Overall, this years Halloween ep gets an A -- Good Job to Drew & Co.

TPiR airs at 9AM mountain time? That's an oddity...

Doesn't it air at 11 on the East Coast? If his affiliate took the East Coast feed (which would make sense, since I'm pretty sure CBS doesn't offer a Central or Mountain one) and aired it straight off the network for daytime, that would follow.

Western Colorado pulls it off of the live East Coast feed (the only daytime show they do that with -- unless you count LMAD as the "official" 3PM Eastern CBS show -- we get that at 1PM). Denver and Colorado Springs both air Price at 10AM Mountain.

I seem to recall when I worked at the local CBS affil, that CBS did air a Mountain Time feed for most programming, as I don't remember seeing master control pre-recording too many network shows to air in proper "8/7 Central (& Mountain), etal..." time slots.

Take a zero off the end, and sigh.

Outside of that, and the momentary lapses back into "Downer Drew," it was a really great show to watch. Just loads of fun.

FWIW, I have old TVGuides from Denver (around 1983) that list all the CBS daytime shows two hours earlier that they'd air in the East. I think back then they just the Eastern daytime feed. The primetime shows aired the same time as they did in the Central Time Zone, so they must have had a separate feed for that.

I just hope Drew enjoyed his lederhosen.

/Carol Wood and co. need to submit this show for the Emmys

With all of the "temporary redesigning" of that game, I was surprised that they didn't put Drew's face (or likeness) over ol' Hans. At least a few people on the forum would've loved to see that, for "certain" reasons. :-)

With Rich's costume and top hat, I dub thee, "Mayor McWheel". I know it is a bit of a stretch, but all I kept thinking was Mayor McCheese looking at Rich during the SCSD.

The theming is not unusual, but one thing left me puzzled: how did the soap fit in?

Were they supposed to be Bob Barker or just dirty old men? They're one in the same; my bad.

Soaping cars' windows. Or maybe it was a subliminal tribute to Rod Roddy.

I feel so dumb; here I was wondering how long the show has gone since having a perishable grocery products, and I didn't even notice the theme.

Even with the BROWN PAPER BAGS.

Oh, man, I didn't notice the theme, either.

It wasn't just the theme that was such fun, it was the level of detail involved. When RangeGameModel appeared again in the act after her game was played and the ARP of the Range Game prize was displayed on her "board," I was delighted.

All in all, I think that's the most fun I've had watching "Price" since my wife was a contestant.

Grocery Game's had themes since at least the start of this season, maybe slightly before. One playing had all five products with "sun" in their titles, and the most recent playing had the ingredients for a peanut butter pie, with the description being the recipe. I thought this theme was white things...until the paper bags hit.

And to be correct: Drew had bundhosen, not lederhosen. My bad.

Also a cute touch to replace the common buzzer and klaxon buzzer with screams (for the most part--the common buzzer did resurface for Plinko).

Actually, for a time there was no separate feed, and it was on a station-by-station basis whether to take the Eastern Feed, delay it by an hour, or take the Eastern Feed for 7-9 MT=9-11 ET, and delay the first hour to the third, which sort of didn't work if you had a movie. It's also why you never heard MT used in promos, it wasn't consistent.

By the time I got out to Colorado in the early 90s, there was either a separate feed or the local stations had the mechanics down better. However, the Denver station showed TPIR at the odd ball time of 10:30. I can't remember what they aired at 10:00 to make it so oddball.

Well the show's theme was not bad but the rest was complete hell (except for Plinko of course) and when do you even see two bidding the same amount for each of their showcases?

And that's why I always wondered about MT. I never heard it!

\In watching classic Password, I find it interesting that they were so NY-centric that they referred to the daytime show as airing at "2:00 New York time," rather than "Eastern."

The reasons why you rarely, if ever hear of Mountain Time anymore is because most network programming airs at the same "equivalent" hour that Central Time stations air their network programming.

So with modern technology now firmly in place, any non-cable network can just use the "8PM/7 Central (etal,..)" tagline to cover the entire country,

For Example, here is an example of the start of most primetime programming:

8PM -- Eastern
7PM -- Central
7PM -- Mountain*
8PM -- Pacific

* --> Many consider this time zone, media-wise, to be in the "Central" part of the U.S., thus consider "central" as meaning region and not necessarily a specific time zone.

And considering that the Mountain Time Zone is the least-populated area in the continental US, there is usually not much mention of Mountain Time in any medium (except perhaps for "live" coast-to-coast programming), plus there are more scheduling quirks than in other time zones, like TPIR airings @ 9AM.

I was actually hoping they had an escalator and Drew would go up with each dollar the contestant missed. On the downside, a loss in this game and they'd have to start a new host search.

Casts and braces for Drew to put on following a loss just wouldn't have been practical. Hilarious image, perhaps, but impractical.
