Breakdown & Opinion:

(Obviously the list is not in particular order)

1. Behind the whoopee. Ehhhh, it was funny, but... not the greatest moment. So *STRIIIIIIKE*
2. Larson cracks PYL code: EASILY #2 in my book (Reason why not #1 later). Lead the way to all those high money game shows we saw later on in the 80s and into today, so *DING*
3. Rip Rips Ripoff Hair. Again, a funny moment, but not high in greatness. It's not as bad as the Whoppee incident though so it gets the *BZZ BZZ*
4. Kaufman on Dating Game. WHY? *STRIIIIIIIIKE*
5. Jennings's discovered to be human. End of a great run. Definitely a great moment My #4. *DING*
6. Avila stinks on smells. Definitely a harsh loss, was it a great moment though? No. *STRIIIIIIIIKE*
7. "YOU FOOL!" What else is there to say except: *DING* My personal #3 moment.
8. McKee's run. The run that started it all in terms of winning streaks. My #5. *DING*
9. White v. Toaster. A fitting end to the Password era of that time that the wife of the original host destroys a symbol of extreme difficulty for players and celebrities. Yes, it's funny, is it great? Somewhat. A small ding for it. *ting*
10. Ah-nold Schvatzzinegga ("GEHT TOO DA CHAAPAA!"). Again, I ask. WHY? *STRIIIIIIIIKE*

How would my top 10 moments go? Well, here's my take on it:

10. Any lot win from $ale of the Century
9. Any $100,000 Pyramid tournament win
8. Doug Van Gundy's reaction to winning $250k on WWTBAM. Priceless.
7. Bob-O wins $1M on Super Millionaire
6. Carpenter calls his dad on WWTBAM
5. McKee's run
4. Jennings's streak ends on J!
3. H2's "YOU FOOL!"
2. Larson cracks the code for PYL
1. Joe Trela deliberates for nearly an hour over the $1 Million question on WWTBAM. And his patience pays off.

Anything after:

Stempel/Van Doren
Michael Larson
Ken Jennings
John Carpenter

is all gravy.

Really? You think that's the reason $1,000,000 Chance of a Lifetime came out? Didn't the Larson incident provide merely a brief ratings spike?

The unnecessary addition of "SFX" doesn't help your commentary either.

Just noting that four of your ten are from essentially the same show. That's fine for a personal list. However, if this were published like the original article, I would have ripped it to shreds for being too narrow. The original list had different shows for each of the ten items, showing some sense of variety.

Hey, why do we need only 10? Don is somewhere up to #49993 on his countdown of the 50,000 greatest game show moments!

Aurie replacing Earl on Match Game has to be 38,712. My friends and I have debated this to no end.

The Davidson HS April Fool show, where one contestant knocked the other over the edge. The look on Davidson's face was priceless when he found out it was a joke. To see the fool discovering he's a fool . . .

But Millionaire had more than its fair share of memorable moments. With money that was unheard of at the time, a single contestant to focus on and simple to follow gameplay, it is no surprise that a person could have four entries on a top ten list.
