For lack of a better term up there; what are people's opinions on some of the little "gimmies" that Roger (and may still) use? Examples of these "rules", I'm told are:
  • No repeating digits in cars
  • 0/5 always ends the price of a car

Personally, I think they cause the show to become rather stale. When I host the game online, I tend to stray away from such rules. Are they a reasonable expectation to use for one; and two, do they make for good TV?

Who the hell told you that? That's not even close to right.

I should clarify that the original statement was "Car prices end in 0 or 5 unless paint and fabric protectant [sic] is included." Still, I want to say that I've seen cars end in other numbers without these features, even with Roger at the helm.

Perhaps for 10 Chances, but not for any other car game.

No repeating digits in cars

Numbers repeat all the time. Even in playings of Any Number, the car price had a repeating digit 14 out of 29 times this past season.

I only know this because I counted the playings from this site.

Temptation is pretty much the only game where numbers can't repeat in the price of the car.

Also, always put the 0 last in Ten Chances.

Seems like 95% of the contestants still haven't figured that out yet.

That's just the most basic of descriptions, and we only even know about the paint sealant and fabric protectant deal because of Ted. If I spent a few hours thinking about it, I could probably come up with something resembling an official set of "rules" for each car game -- but I don't think any of us, including me, really wants me to do that.
