while driving in... um, rephrase... While stuck doing literally 5 mph from the O'Hare toll plaza on the Kennedy to my exit an hour later, I decided to flip on WBBM 780 to check the traffic and I hear "with traffic here's Steve Day...". Sure sounded like the same one from "Just Men" and "Caesar's Challenge". I'm a visitor from Minneapolis, any Chicagoan hear him before and verify it's him?

If it is, he must have recently started working there. WBBM's
staff page doesn't mention him.

That's news to me. Then again I was on the wrong AM station this afternoon.

If you'd like, I can ask him when he takes over from me on Tuesday night...
And I will say that if it's not him, damn, the voices are close.

Maybe this helps? It lists him as being in Chicago and the demo has a Caesar's Challenge snippet
There's a pic there so maybe you can ID him Sodboy.....

Glad the mystery is solved!
Now, let's all find ways you can work the phrase "Caesar Says Stop!" into a conversation with him :p

Interesting to find so many 'BBM people here! I anchored overnights for a while (1998-99).

I guess that's part of the reason I'm in TV now (He's retired now)...

BTW, ready for this Chicago? Left my cell on a red line train. Kissed it good-bye and went to Verizon to buy a new one. 2 hours later my friends phone rings, it's the guy who found my phone and wanted to get it back to me.

I was Metro's bureau chief for Kansas City until last September, when they laid off several hundred people nationally. (Now, the K.C. office is one of many that no longer exist.)

I trust the world of Chicago traffic is reported from Chicago.
Beginning next Monday, the world of Cleveland traffic on many stations will be reported from Detroit.
Steve's voice belongs on the air, telling Caesar to stop or announcing stopped traffic. Glad he remains employed.

Just dawned on me. You're Burleigh's son, right?
That was an era where WBBM-TV was real good and well-respected. Before Bill Kurtis became faster than Michael Phelps, Floyd Mayweather and Andy Roddick, he was a darn good anchor (along with Walter Jacobson).

Heritage station with a glorious history.
But I can't help thinking how it might sound:
"Now, to see how things are moving along, let's go to the BM traffic center"

last time I checked a year ago, I found out that he left WHLC in Highlands NC in 2007 and joined a local based cluster in Indianapolis to be close to his family. And I went on the country station's website where he DJed and I couldn't find anything about him
