Johnny Carson, who is 78 today!

“Here’s Johnny!” Carson is a television talk show host who is best known for hosting “The Tonight Show” for over 30 years. After graduating from college, Carson frequently appeared on “The Red Skelton Show,” and he leant his writing talents to some of the comedy skits. In 1958, Carson started work on the quiz show, “Who Do You Trust?” (1958-63), and he became the permanent host of “The Tonight Show” in 1962. From 1962-92, Carson delighted audiences with his witty monologues (that always ended with his golf swing), funny skits and revealing celebrity interviews. Carson was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1987, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1992 and the Kennedy Center Honors Lifetime Achievement Award in 1993.

Also a happy 44th to "Weird Al" Yankovic, he of the Greg Kihn parody "I Lost on Jeopardy" and celeb contestant on Wheel and Rock 'n' Roll J!

Esoteric Eric, 15 days older than Al, five days older than Marie Osmond, one day younger than Simon Cowell (though by looks, you'd guess I was quite a bit older than all three; can I help it if I worry? ((8=D)) )

If I remember, the video came out in 1984, the same year, of course, that "Jeopardy!" returned to TV....

Add our own Chris "dickoon" Dickson to the happy birthday list today.

If I may Horan momentarily ;) he also did a shot on Win Ben Stein's Money. I wanna say he played opposite Matthew Sweet and C.C. DeVille from Poison. (Who, BTW, has THE MOST entertaining Boston accent...)

(BTW, Al has a DVD coming out on November 4th, which will include every single video he's done to date. MMmmmmm. :))

I've got that date marked on my calendar. (That's also when Sheryl Crow's best-of disc comes out. I've got a few others to get as well, but I'm looking to get them in one stop.)

Don't know what I was thinking of
Guess I just wasn't too bright
I sure hope I do better
Next weekend on The Price is Right-ight-ight...

Oh, MAN, that's great news. Although the collection that's been available has 21 songs and is a pretty good representation of his work, minus the most recent album or two of course.

OB Game Shows: Yeah, yeah, "I Lost on Jeopardy!" blah, blah, blah...

They did a fantastic job of recreating the NY Jeopardy! set for the video. Either they recreated it or the original set was sitting in a warehouse somewhere and Merv let them use it.

My turn, LOL...he also appeared on Pictionary.

Anyone happen to know offhand of Weird Al's record on game shows? He's a very bright guy.
I posess an episode of Remote Control, in which he completely runs the Think Real Fast round, as well as an episode of Super Sloppy Double Dare where he beat Lou Ferigno.

By my count, he's 2-0.
Did Al win or lose on the other shows you guys mentioned?

NITPICK ALERT: It was Fox's Family Double Dare. Call me remiss for forgetting that, since I loved DD in its day!

According to some Google research, he made it to the Best Of Ten round against Ben, and was soundly defeated, getting but a single correct answer.

Al won four out of five of his appearances on Pictionary... and the fifth was lost on a tie-breaker. The celebrity that had been opposing Al all week (mid-week, the other two celebrities switched teams, since it appeared the two strongest were on one side) was very mature about it, gloating about how they "beat Al!"

Also notable: Al holds the record for most puzzles successfully drawn in round one, getting seven in 45 seconds.

I'm gonna call that 7-1. Technically, he won on WBSM, just didn't beat the bonus round. (which I believe he did do on FFDD and RC)
