Fresh off the success of the new version of American Gladiators on NBC, MGM has announced that it intends to make available for syndication effective immediately the 39 episodes of Gladiators 2000 for weekend play.

Full article available at Broadcasting & Cable HERE.

For those who don't know, Gladiators was a mid-90s spinoff of the original series featuring teenage contestants and a young Ryan Seacrest as host.

Can this show possibly fit the e/i requirement?

Aww, I have vague memories of watching this show (and a clip in a home video of a 7-year-old Chad watching these repeats.) For memory's sake, I hope someone around here picks this up.

If I remember right, a lot of the games had educational elements to it, and there may have even been a trivia round before the Eliminator.

The Pyramid, for instance, was transformed into something of a food pyramid, with large foam representations of different meals. And I recall a question standing between the uphill treadmill and the big swing-into-the-paper.

IIRC, the show actually supered an E/I icon on-screen, so I wouldn't see why not.

I seem to remember an interstitial where two kids were "racing" to brush their teeth, then someone stepped in to tell them that you should take at least two minutes to do so.

E/I? E/I? Oh!

Rhetorical question time: Has there ever been a version of a mainline show (or revival thereof) with "2000" in the title that was actually good?

I'd say "Beyond 2000", but that's not a game show.

He never said it had to be a game show. Well done; I knew there had to be at least one, but it wasn't coming to me...

3000, yes. 2000, sadly, no.

The balls in Swingshot were also labeled Fats, Carbs, and Proteins, for what that's worth.

I do remember that the Eliminator had 4 questions throughout it. You answered the question by taking the left or right side of each particular obstacle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 4 questions/obstacles were the rings, then the ball pit, the glass climbing wall, and the "travelator", IIRC.

I do remember them turning Snapback into an event where you had to construct a human skeleton. I'm pretty sure they renamed it Bones.
