Don't know what trustno1's sources are, but given the handle, I'll choose not to trust him (or her). Here's a look at what has been printed.
Headline to original
Daily Telegraph story:
QUOTE
Temptation axed for McGuire
The
Melbourne Herald Sun story is a little less brutal:
QUOTE
Temptation cast and crew have been told that the show will be back next year, and that replacing it with Millionaire does not mean the show has been axed.
Then there's the
Telegraph's
article in its "Sydney Confidential" section:
QUOTE
... Nine revealed it will "rest" Phillips' Sale of the Century rebirth in October until next year and replace it with a weeknight series of Millionaire, hosted by the company's former CEO.
Also from the "Sydney Confidential" article, a possible explanation for the timing of a
Temptation hiatus:
QUOTE
While Temptation has rated well in its 7pm weekday timeslot, often out-rating Seven's Home and Away, it has proved to be a dud inclusion to Nine's summer program with viewers tuning out in droves during the non-ratings period over Christmas.
It seems that Ed Phillips's Channel Nine contract, expiring at the end of this year, is also a factor. I don't know which scribe has decent sources on this (if any), but those are the reports, for what they're worth.
