First off....Charlie O' did the warmup. He was very funny and generous in answering questions.

Both shows I saw were dominated by a single player, but watch the Friday show.....this one guy was like Michael Larson [you have to see it to believe it]

And then there was the infamous $10,000 Vowel....the first puzzle was cut from the Friday show because a contestant called a vowel with only $50, and he had the $10,000 square in his bank and lost it when the puzzle was restarted.

Because, like it says in that same sentence, they accidentally let him buy a vowel when he didn't have enough "spendable" cash.

Actually, said sentence said that he "called" for a vowel, it didn't mention that they screwed up and allowed him to have it. Makes more sense with that vital little bit of information, if in fact that was the call. Otherwise you'd think that Sajak would simply remind him that he didn't have the cash to do so and that he needed to spin if he wasn't gonna solve.

The last time I saw someone try to buy a vowel he couldn't afford, he lost his turn.

Really? I don't ever remember that happening. I thought the only penalty was a gentle reminder from Pat. If you tried to buy a vowel that's already been called, you lose your turn. Maybe that's what you saw.

I think our esteemed admin is right on this one. :-)

Charlie also reminisced about working with Alex Trebek on Wizard of Odds and he even mentioned everyone's favorite GS host, True Don Bleu. :-P
