John Ritter passed away unexpectedly at age 54. Ritter recently made several appearances on Hollywood Squares, and starred in 8 Simple Rules on ABC.

He will be missed.

Hey, have you ever heard of this guy named Chuck Woolery? What game shows did he host, anyhow?
LA the DJ
OK I don't know what the smarta** comment is about, but it's not appreciated.

Chris is fulfilling his self-appointed role as board gestapo by unkindly and publicly letting you know that the topic was brought up in another thread.

He will be missed.

John Ritter was also featured with several of his Three's Company costars on the first All-Star Family Feud Special on ABC in May 1978 and had played several more of them.

Yes...sorely missed will he be.

I'm in utter shock right now....between Cash, Ritter, Stokey, and Hovis, we lost a lot in the past week.....

Exactly who is this Chuck Woolery character Chris is talking about?

The professor reports that GSN will air Ritter's All-Star Feud appearance Tuesday from 9-10 and then several episodes of Hollywood Squares he was on from 10-noon.

Cold, cruel and bitter. Typical Chris Lemon post.

Yes, he hosted "I'm a jerk"

Winkler looked absolutely shocked on the report I seen about this tonight.

LA the DJ
Yes, the original thread had dropped way back on the board at the time I posted this. I even looked to see if it had been posted.

Anyone heard where this is gonna leave 8 Simple Rules?

As I heard it, 8SR has been put on indefinite hiatus.

I'm not familiar with the show, but there's a precedent for a show's star disappearing and the rest of the cast enjoying a modest run from that point forward, when Valerie Harper left "Valerie" in a contract dispute, and they killed off her character and went on with "The Hogan Family". Granted, the circumstances don't even begin to compare, and I would totally understand if the show's cast didn't want to go on with it, but do you think the show could be reworked to lose Ritter's character without losing too much of the essence of the show?

No, I don't think it's possible. I watched it a few times when there was nothing else on, and I think while they could certainly *try* to go on without his character, it wouldn't work. The way I interpreted the show, it was centered on his antics with his character's teenage daughters [draw your own conclusions :-P] But I only saw the show about three times so I could have missed something.

Also, ABC threw in a little tribute blurb during Whose Line last night. It was about 3 seconds long, but considering they needed to make one on such short notice, it was good enough.

I saw the tribute, and was subsequentially surprised that noone made a "NBC Hope Tribute" type deal about its length. Thankfully, people refrained. It was good - enough to make you realise that he's missed.

I saw the tribute during Whose Line and also watched Ritter's segment on 20/20 afterwards. I think they also aired the small tribute a couple more times right before a commercial break two or three more times.

The whole thing seems to sad. He really sounded, as one of the people on 20/20 said, "A man you root for."
LA the DJ
Just the other day on Hallmark they aired an Episode of Kojak, with a very young Ritter as a reluctant coin thief.
