Full Version: Ebay Goodies...Body Language Piloto Ticket...?

I see the first edition quite a bit, but the second edition of Break the Bank doesn't show up as often...this particular copy does have Bert on the cover. $49.97 is a bit steep, though.
While Electric Jeopardy isn't anything special, this one appears to be in a blue box. Matt's picture on his site, and my copy are red. Either the box faded badly, or there were two printings in two different boxes...?
Ticket to a taping of Body Language, dated October 9, 1983. IIRC, the show didn't debut until July 1984, correct?
Color photograph of Peter Tomarken, Tom Kennedy, Jim Peck, and I believe Bob Goen. Seller states photograph is from a negative.
December 1986 copy of Game Show Magazine. $25.99....
Eleven slides from "The New Treasure Hunt". Seller shows two; one of them is the picture that made the cover of the Game Show Themes album Chuck Barris put out.
Press Kit from the 80s run of Tattletales.
Supposedly the gong from Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
Promo photo of Tom Kennedy and Jane Royale for You Don't Say. They are sipping something from a container labeled "Florida". Was there some kind of promotion?
While it may not be rare or anything, a copy of Matt O's favorite game show personality album, Bill Cullen's Minstrel Spectacular.
May 1, 1989 edition of Sports Illustrated with an article on...Jeopardy?
I have one of these...the press kit from when $1.98 Beauty Show began to air on Game Show Network. It is rather large; includes a sash and crown.
EDIT: Should be "pilot" in the title. My bad.

Yes, that guy with the mustache is Bob Goen. Is it possible this pic. was taken while they all appeared on Crosswits?

I'm pretty sure that "Florida container" is (or is supposed to be) an orange.

That Electric Jeopardy! game is ug-lee. Was this, perhaps, a prototype? The one with which we are all familiar is much more attractive. I'm glad they changed it at some point.

I'm wondering about that too. The color of the faces of the players on the cover also looks way, way off, but it doesn't seem to be a problem with the camera. Odd little find.

And since the seller is a co-author of the Encyclopedia of TV Game Shows and an agent for two of the guys in the photo, I'm guessing that's the truth (for anyone considering placing a bid).

They did at least one week of shows in Florida. Probably a promotional photo for that.

However it happened, it's obvious all the blues in the "Jeopardy" auction are supposed to be red. Not withstanding the whacked out photo of the players on the box to clue you in, there's the fact the $100-$500 values were blue with this game, and in the picture they're red. Also, the red lettering meant to block out the text is blue here as well.

Of course, with the game board being blue instead of the usual red, it makes sense that the lettering would be blue also.

I just sent the seller an e-mail asking if the colors in the picture are correct.

I'll be curious if the seller did it on purpose to make it appear rare. If they did, they certainly got Mark hook, line, and sinker.

I would take the bet and say yes it was during their appearance on "Crosswits". BTW, One of those eps is on the trading circuit.
JasonA1
Would not doubt it. Why the rest would appear in different, but still logical colors, and that picture be so...wrong makes no sense. Has to be a pic alteration.

What's interesting is that the seller -- who, as we've established, ought to know better -- describes it as a picture of Peter Tomarken and three others, as if the other three were insignificant. I know he's done well selling Tomarken items in the past, but it seems as though it wouldn't have been such a chore for him to identify the other three, at least in the description.

I noticed this odd little quirk too, which is why I questioned the photograph, not realizing who the seller was.

Now if only we could get Bob Boden to start selling stuff on Ebay...

It seems that the seller messed with the Hue (on the Electric Jeopardy! pics) in order to create something unique. A quick adjustment turns it into the colors that I have in my game:

As soon as I saw the Electric Jeopardy! pics, I knew that the colors somehow got reversed due to some technical quirk or intentional monkeying. There is NO WAY that a BLUE transparent board would have been included, since it's the RED ones that work with the red-on-blue print in the answer books. But the ultimate giveaway should have been the BLUE faces of the players depicted on the cover! Was the seller counting on everyone to be so naive as to think thay managed to hire Blue Man Group to pose behind the podiums???

To paraphrase the title of another, shorter-lived TV game from daytime scheds of yore, I hope somebody Calls His Bluff.

I truly have a hard time accepting that the seller was deliberately screwing around with the hue because he thought he could trick collectors into thinking this was a rare version. I just can't see putting that much thought into an old board game. Seems a lot more likely that his camera settings were on the fritz in some accidental way.

How the hell would you pay for shipping on the Superball! game? :3

/If I had the money, I'd buy it.

Here's the official word I got back from the seller when I asked if the colors were correct:

"NO....and I have no idea why it turned out that way. Very odd, it is the exact opposite of the colors pictured. I will try and change photo's, but the auctions before this one and the auctions after this one all turned out just fine?? Too wierd, thanks for letting me know. better pictures soon."

Sounds reasonable enough. If the seller were really trying to scam people, I doubt he would reply in this fashion, if he replied at all.

The seller feels he needs to parenthetically explain what "slides" are... Holy crap that makes me feel old! :)
