Hey, it's been a couple of months but I've finally finished the "Price Is Right" theme.

Enjoy!

To save anyone who cares a minute of their life they won't get back:

No, he STILL doesn't know how to do instrument mappings yet. Or how to merge unnecessary tracks, so he doesn't have TWENTY FRIGGIN' SEPARATE TRACKS of fingered bass. (Fourteen of which, I will add, do not have one single note of music upon them.

It's too bad, because he clearly has some talent, if he knew what the hell he was doing. If you take the time and finish the job (okay, I was bored), it sounds really good. But apparently he refuses to learn.

It's the tip of the iceberg. I didn't know the TPiR theme had as many drums as this MIDI file. Also, it didn't start till 2 1/2 seconds in on my Windows Media Player, plus it ended right before the final note. One of my MIDI programs choked on this file. A friend also says his WinAmp refused to play the entire final segment of the file.

Play at your own risk.

Again, if you fix the MIDI mappings, it sounds far better.

But 1) I don't expect most people to know how to, and 2) I don't expect most people to go to the effort.

The 1.5-measure dead space at the start is another Kidsplash Classic.

THIS might be you. It plays back all the way for me no problem. And Anvil Studio opens and edits it just fine.

(EDIT: S'not you, it's WMP. Does it on mine too. If I play back from inside Anvil it's golden.)

Or, at least, don't be surprised when you find that it sucks.

Here, what might have been:

Total extra effort expended: maybe ten minutes.

And while I cannot compare the two directly (I spared the trouble of loading Kid's), that is an excellent MIDI version.

People still make MIDIs? :)

Sure. They're most useful for quite a few things, such as cellphone ringtones.

Plus (when done properly) there's a certain amount of programmatical elegance to them. Really, coding an entire multitrack song into 40K? Pretty cool. (Again, when done well.)

My friend, who is a singer, created a CD of herself with about ten songs. All the background orchestration was done in MIDI format, and it sounded exquisite.
